Behind the Eight Ball
For the last campaign, I helped to organize a public forum, so I’m hoping there will be a few opportunities to be on the other side of the table. I still stay firm that ‘face to face’ is the best way to interact and get a feel for a person, so other than door knocking which starts this Saturday – yikes – I think public forums are great.
I have no qualms about public speaking, in fact I have the opposite problem and usually need a timekeeper especially when I’m talking about something that I’m passionate about. But I have a couple of ideas of some public forums we can get going and I’ve asked a local youth group if they might be interested in learning more about our political system by helping to set one up – so they’re thinking about it.
So that’s in the works along with another couple of ideas of getting some face to face time.
But I’ve noticed in the newspaper that North Cowichan and the CVRD already have a few forums set up – November 1st, in Chemainus, November 8th in Mill Bay, and November 10th in Cobble Hill.
Seems Duncan is a little behind the eight ball – so it’s time to get out the pool cues and get playing!
Who wants to help?
